Middle School

Instructional Excellence!
BCA has an excellent academic program that is rigorous and challenging.  We are intentional and purposeful in our choice of curriculum and learning experiences.  Our school provides opportunities for students to grow cognitively, socially, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.  BCA’s instructional program is characterized by integrated instruction, a focus on student application and transference of knowledge and skills, developmental appropriateness, critical thinking and problem solving, and a variety of instructional methods.

In terms of Grade Mean Equivalent on the Stanford Achievement Test (April 2011) our students scored as follows:

  • 6th grade scored at 10th grade, 6th month
  • 7th grade scored at Post High School
  • 8th grade scored at 12th grade, 9th month

High Academic Standards
Each year, the Duke University Talent Identification Program recognizes a large number of BCA’s seventh graders.  Approximately 50% of our middle school students qualify for the TIP program by scoring within the top 5% in the nation in the math or verbal areas of a nationally recognized standardized test, such as the Stanford Achievement Test, which we use at BCA.
