BCA utilizes the Accelerated Reader (AR) program to improve students' reading skills, to encourage them to read, and to reward them when they do. Students read fiction and non-fiction AR books, take a test, and then are awarded points for correct answers. Prizes are awarded as certain point levels are reached. Students love it!Our Accelerated Reading program has now been upgraded to allow us to access the following features for this new school year 2011-2012:
- over 140,000 tests
- a Home Connect program where you can access your child’s AR records, see which tests he has taken and check his latest test scores
- an AR book finder that allows you to check to see if a certain book has a test
- enables your child to read books found at other libraries and take the test here at BCA
Though we will not have an AR store at the end of this school year, we do have new point levels for prizes for all grade levels, including high school!
